The uneven allocation of resources
The uneven allocation of resources that is demonstrated in this archetype shows how a company can miss out on a potentially good product through an uneven distribution of resources. The problem here was not that the software was an inferior product but simply that the resources were unevenly allocated.
The same can be true in human resource management where one employee is given better opportunities and hence has a better opportunity to excel over another employee who may be of equal or perhaps even greater ability who does not get the same opportunities.
If a player loses their place in a national sports team because of injury, there is danger of the replacement taking advantage of playing at a higher level to stake a strong claim to the position. If the injured player is forced to return to the “B-team” the chance of regaining their place is severely limited.
