One of the huge advantage of using simulation modelling is that it allows managers to test and cost organisational structures and processes in a “Flight simulator” environment to see what the effect of various scenarios would be. In real life, it’s not possible to design an organisation just to see how it would work and start again if it doesn’t.
But computer simulation allows us this luxury.
When new organisations are being designed, it is possible to design, test and evaluate multiple processes and structures that deal with the problems that the organisation is designed to solve. These multiple processes will have different levels of engagement of professional staff, different timelines and different funding requirements. These element can all be run in the same model.
When of these are modelled, managers and policymakers can make informed decisions about the best use and application of public funding.
